Nuremberg – In the galvanizing plants of the WIEGEL Group, the pre-treatment and post-treatment of steel play a crucial role. To ensure optimal composition and the highest quality standards, samples are regularly taken from the pre-treatment and post-treatment baths. These samples are then transported to the central laboratory in Nuremberg, where they undergo thorough scientific analysis.
In the chemical laboratory, an experienced team analyzes the composition of the samples. The collected data is crucial for determining whether adjustments are needed in our plants. Natalia Kremer, chemical engineer, head of the laboratory, and environmental officer, explains: “Through our regular analyses, we ensure that the WIEGEL hot-dip galvanizing process consistently meets the highest quality standards. This guarantees compliance with DIN EN ISO 1461 and thus provides a long-lasting corrosion protection solution.”
An essential part of the quality management system
In addition to pre-treatment and post-treatment, the zinc alloy is also continuously monitored to ensure a consistently high quality standard in the galvanizing process. Natalia Kremer adds: “The values determined in the laboratory feed directly into the production process. If an adjustment in concentration is needed, it is carried out precisely according to the laboratory’s specifications. This ensures optimal pre-treatment – a key prerequisite for high-quality galvanizing.”
The laboratory is therefore a central component of the WIEGEL Group’s quality management. These measures not only guarantee long-lasting corrosion protection, but also play a key role in ensuring the highest level of customer satisfaction.
