WIEGEL Denkendorf shows great appreciation and supports fire departments after the major fire

Denkendorf – After the devastating fire at WIEGEL in Denkendorf, on August 8 2023, the company demonstrated its social responsibility. As a sign of recognition and support for the tireless work of the fire departments in the Eichstätt district, who were on duty around the clock, WIEGEL donated 25,000 euros. The official handover took place on September 9, 2024.

The fire departments were free to decide how they wanted to use the donation. They decided to purchase a toilet truck and a drinks cooling truck – an investment that proved to be extremely valuable at such a major event.

“The fire departments were deployed for several days and worked under difficult conditions,” emphasizes Stephan Schäfer, Plant Manager at WIEGEL Denkendorf. “Providing the emergency services with sanitary facilities and cool drinks is of crucial importance in such situations.”

At the official handover of the vehicles last Monday, District Fire Chief Martin Lackner, Mayor Claudia Forster and the local fire department commander Florian Felser thanked Harald Füchtenbusch, Managing Director and Stephan Schäfer, Plant Manager of WIEGEL Denkendorf GmbH for the generous donation. The Technical Relief Organization (THW) of the Eichstätt district, which was also involved in the operation, also received new vests from WIEGEL.

“We were very moved by WIEGEL’s support,” said district fire chief Martin Lackner. “With the new vehicles, we are even better equipped for future operations.”
