New blasting line: The foundation for high coating quality
Untermerzbach – A high-quality coating begins long before the actual painting process. The preparation of the steel surface is already a decisive factor. For this reason, the acceptance inspection of the new WIEGEL blasting line at Rösler in Untermerzbach focuses particularly on achieving consistently reproducible blasting results.
The required blasting quality is achieved through the interaction of various parameters. These include selecting the correct blasting media, using the appropriate quantity of media, setting the speed at which the components pass through the system and correctly adjusting the turbines.
The aim is to achieve a reproducible and uniform surface on the steel components. This provides the foundation for the quality of the subsequent coating.
“For us, a high-quality coating does not begin with the actual painting process. It starts here, with the perfect preparation of the surface,” explains Holger Wiedemann, Head of Coating at WIEGEL.
From the blasting chamber to an optimally prepared surface
During the process, the steel components enter the blasting chamber, where they are treated in accordance with the defined system parameters. Once they leave the chamber, the result becomes visible: a uniformly prepared surface designed to provide the optimum conditions for the subsequent coating stages.
The acceptance inspection of the blasting line at Rösler marks the completion of an important step towards commissioning the new system.
