Construction progress in Feuchtwangen: WIEGEL wet coating centre continues to take shape
Feuchtwangen – Construction of the new WIEGEL wet coating centre in Feuchtwangen is visibly progressing. The latest images from the construction site show that the hall, roof areas, crane systems and central interior structures are already clearly visible. This means the new coating centre at the Feuchtwangen site is becoming increasingly tangible.
One of Germany’s most modern wet coating centres is being built directly next to the existing WIEGEL hot-dip galvanizing plant. From the beginning of 2027, customers are expected to benefit from additional coating capacities, short transport routes and a seamless corrosion protection offering at a single location.
Additional capacities and efficient processes at one location
“With the new wet coating centre in Feuchtwangen, we are not only creating additional capacity, but also a well-thought-out plant concept for demanding coating tasks. The combination of hot-dip galvanizing and coating at one location will offer our customers high efficiency, short coordination channels and greater planning reliability in the future,” explains Maximilian Arnold, Series Project Manager at the WIEGEL Group.
The new centre is designed for an annual coating capacity of around 400,000 square metres. Planned features include a fully automated blasting and painting line, additional manual blasting and painting booths, as well as the option of zinc spraying. This will enable WIEGEL to respond even more flexibly in future to different component geometries, project sizes and customer requirements.
The offering is particularly relevant for large-scale steel structures and components from sectors such as infrastructure, steel construction, energy, industry, lattice towers and noise protection. Thanks to the direct connection to the existing hot-dip galvanizing plant, galvanized and coated components will be processed efficiently at a single location in the future.
Plan early and secure coating capacities
“The current construction progress clearly shows how planning is becoming reality step by step. With every visible milestone, the launch of the new capacities is moving closer. We therefore recommend that our customers and project partners talk to us about upcoming projects at an early stage and secure capacities in good time,” says Arnold.
