Anna and the WIEGELIANER: WIEGEL Scrabble – Part 2 (Hot-Dip Galvanizing in Trusetal)
Trusetal – In the second part of the series “Anna and the WIEGELIANER,” the WIEGEL letters produced in steel construction at WIEGEL Parey are hot-dip galvanized at WIEGEL Trusetal. The goal is reliable corrosion protection for later outdoor use.
During hot-dip galvanizing, the components are immersed in a zinc bath heated to around 450 °C after appropriate pre-treatment, as plant manager Thomas Luck explains. This process forms a firmly bonded zinc coating that protects the steel from corrosion over the long term, particularly when exposed to moisture and weather.
In addition, presenter Anna Alt introduces a small galvanizing facility at the Trusetal site, designed for loose small and bulk steel parts such as screws, nuts and washers.
Looking ahead to the third part of the series, the next step follows: at WIEGEL Isseroda the letters will receive their color design through powder coating.
