We had our own booth at the Metall Congress in Würzburg. Our colleagues Florian Diehl, Rosina Dünisch, and Stefan Hantke attended the event and ensured a successful exchange with customers and exhibitors.
Metall Construction Award as a Highlight
A special highlight of the event was the presentation of the Metall Construction Award to Huhle Stahl- und Metallbau GmbH for the construction of the observation tower in Kelkheim (Taunus). Our galvanizing plants, Wiegel Großostheim and Neuwied, were significantly involved in this project. The majority of the galvanizing work was carried out in Großostheim, while our colleagues in Neuwied took care of galvanizing the oversized components. Thanks to the collaboration between both sites, the project was permanently protected from rust and its longevity was ensured.
Impressive Construction Achievement
The Atzelbergturm was originally built in 1980 as a wooden structure and had been heavily used over the years. Unfortunately, the tower was severely damaged by fire in 2008 and 2017. These incidents led the city to decide to design a new tower in steel construction. Architect Detlef Schreiber succeeded in creating an elegant and delicate design for the new steel version of the Atzelbergturm.
A total of 30 tons of steel and 3,000 screws were used for the Atzelbergturm. The platform, which can be accessed by a spiral staircase with 156 steps, offers an impressive panoramic view of the Taunus region from a height of 27 meters. We are grateful for the successful collaboration and the realization of this challenging project, which not only makes an important contribution to the region but also demonstrates versatility and quality in metal construction.
