Old zinc kettle from WIEGEL Feuchtwangen returns to the materials cycle
Feuchtwangen – 17 metres long, weighing over 100 tonnes and in operation for many years: the old zinc kettle from WIEGEL Feuchtwangen has left its site. Using two large cranes, the colossus was safely lifted and then loaded onto a low-loader.
The removal marks a special step as part of the kettle replacement at the Feuchtwangen site. A zinc kettle of this size is not only a central element in the hot-dip galvanizing process, but also a logistical challenge when it has to be replaced and transported away.
However, the removal does not mean the end of the old kettle’s useful life entirely. The material will be returned to the materials cycle and recycled. For the WIEGEL Group, this is an important part of responsible circular economy: resources are not only used, but also thoughtfully considered after their period of use.
The kettle replacement in Feuchtwangen is one of the largest kettle replacements within the WIEGEL Group. Further insights into the process and dimensions of this special project will be shown in the following video series.
