Nature Conservation and Regional Responsibility in Hradec Králové

Hradec Králové – The site of our galvanizing plant located in the Svobodné Dvory district includes the Bohdanečský pond, an area of outstanding ecological importance for the region. Through a memorandum, WIEGEL Czech Republic is actively contributing to the protection of this valuable nature reserve.

The pond and its surrounding area are of significant ecological importance. They are characterized by high biodiversity, a notable presence of waterfowl, and a valuable landscape character. At the same time, the area serves as a natural space for recreation and environmental education for the people of Hradec Králové and the surrounding districts.

On March 20, 2026, WIEGEL signed a memorandum together with representatives of the city of Hradec Králové and the Okrašlovací spolek Svobodné Dvory (local beautification association). The aim of this agreement is to preserve and further strengthen the ecological value of the area in the long term, to safeguard this valuable natural space for future generations, and to promote public awareness of biodiversity, environmental responsibility, and active landscape management.

On behalf of WIEGEL Czech Republic, Managing Director Vladimír Duchtík and Pavel Douda, Head of Quality and Environment, took part in the signing. The city of Hradec Králové was represented by Deputy Mayor Adam Záruba. Michal Šeba attended on behalf of the Okrašlovací spolek Svobodné Dvory.

The first joint projects will begin later this year to further develop and sustainably secure the ecological value of the area.
