District Administrator Jürgen Ludwig visits the WIEGEL construction site in Feuchtwangen: New coating plant under construction

Feuchtwangen – On 19 January 2026, District Administrator Jürgen Ludwig and Mayor Patrick Ruh visited the site to learn about the construction progress. A state-of-the-art coating plant is being built directly next to the WIEGEL hot-dip galvanizing facility, with an investment volume of around EUR 19 million.

District Administrator Jürgen Ludwig visited the WIEGEL site in Feuchtwangen. Together with Feuchtwangen’s Mayor Patrick Ruh, he gained an impression of the current construction progress during an on-site appointment. The construction work is on schedule: in just a few months, a new production hall will be completed on the 57,000 m² commercial site. Germany’s most modern coating plant is being built directly next to the WIEGEL hot-dip galvanizing facility.

Logistical advantages

With this new build, WIEGEL is investing around EUR 19 million to expand the site. Feuchtwangen offers ideal conditions: its location at the A6/A7 motorway interchange provides significant logistical advantages for customers. At the same time, a key added value will be available from a single source in the future: hot-dip galvanizing and coating at the same site. This reduces time and costs and eliminates intermediate transport between galvanizing and coating.

With a planned capacity of around 400,000 m² per year, the new coating plant will be among the heavyweight facilities in Germany. By expanding its services at the Feuchtwangen site, WIEGEL will also create up to 35 additional jobs.

The planned start of regular operations is scheduled for early 2027. In the future, steel components up to 16.80 m in length will be hot-dip galvanized and coated on site.
