WIEGEL Lauchhammer welcomes Mayor

Lauchhammer – On February 13, 2026, the Mayor of Lauchhammer, Mirko Buhr, visited our hot-dip galvanizing plant to learn more about our operations and gained first-hand insight directly from the production floor.

Together with Regional Managing Director North Sven Biebler and Plant Manager Martin Hitschke, we guided the visitors through the facility and demonstrated how up to 60 tonnes of steel are refined every day in Lauchhammer using the batch galvanizing process. The focus was on our quality standards, efficient processes and the work of our 32-member team at the site.

For more than 30 years, WIEGEL has been based in Lauchhammer and is firmly rooted in the local industrial and commercial area. To support further development, we have already secured additional commercial space in order to enable a future expansion of the site.

The planned “Railport” project was also discussed. The potential reactivation and expansion of the existing rail connection to the industrial and commercial area could open up new logistical perspectives in the future.
